There are several levels of sedation available, ranging from mild to deep, depending on the patient’s needs and the complexity of the dental procedure. Nitrous oxide, commonly known as “laughing gas,” is often used for mild sedation, helping patients feel calm and relaxed while still remaining conscious. Oral sedation, in the form of a pill or liquid medication, can also be used to achieve a higher level of relaxation.
General anesthesia, on the other hand, induces a state of complete unconsciousness, with the patient being unaware of the entire procedure.
